iOS 27 features we didn't see onstage (techcrunch.com)
teekert 9 hours ago [-]
"Users can now set separate volume levels for alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds. Users will need to navigate to Settings > Sounds & Haptics, turn off the “Match Ringtone Volume” toggle, and adjust sliders manually."

The biggest new feature if you ask me!!! I'm gonna tell my wife, she's gonna be so happy with a new feature for once!

Also this: "The emoji keyboard has a small scroll bar at the bottom."

For some reason sometimes suddenly I find myself somewhere in the middle of all emoji's and scrolling back just takes for ever, so I close and re-open. But this sounds like it will be faster. Ideally though, the emoji keyboard just always open at the start of the gallery, but oh well.

"The Wallet app now lets users create their own custom pass."

This is also going to be super helpful to prevent some tracking features of supermarket apps, just copy in an anonymous physical card.

One of the features I personally do not like. That was/is one of the nicest things on iOS IMHO - set volume more silent and it means more silent, not "only in these 3 out of 27 cases".

I’ve been asking for the volume feature since I switched from a blackberry in like 2009!

Disappointing. I really hope we eventually get a no-new-features Snow Leopard product.

Features are fun but agree. seriously fix all the bugs and optimize performance

But that’s not what gets promotions or where money is allocated.

We’ll have to see how it shakes out in reality, but this was actually highlighted in their keynote. In one of their slides they had a massive list of small tweaks, performance improvements, etc. So I’m hoping that they’ve actually taken the time to do it right.
