Sequoia partner spreads debunked Brown shooting theory, testing new leadership (techcrunch.com)
skibidithink 116 days ago [-]
It's baseless or fringe, not debunked.

It’s absolutely debunked, unless you think there’s somehow a chance that the guy who was classmates with the murdered M.I.T. professor, attended Brown University for postgrad, and was seen on CCTV at Brown is somehow not the Brown university shooter.

It was posited baselessly and then debunked by evidence.

I don’t mind if Maguire has strong or fringe opinions on things related to his industry.

But if you have a high profile role you shouldn’t be “contributing” unsubstantiated theories to the coverage of fresh tragedies.

The former Sequoia managing partner Roelof Botha says about Maguire that he has a “specific profile” that appeals to certain founders. Seemingly forgetting that there are more stakeholders than just those specific founders.

In what other professional industry can a partner just be openly racist, hostile, and spread Alex Jones like propaganda? It's so bizarre to watch.

I mean, openly? Not too many. Dog whistles, though... well, you might just be what the Fifth Circuit is looking for.
